costs more for larger worlds, but more options are available. There are also creative worlds where you can test out machines, tools, or crafting, and they require a 3rd portal block to go back and forth (no gear can be transferred between creative & survival worlds).Īlso, if you do want to have your own world (sovereign planet), there is an IRL monthly fee (that goes toward keeping the game online) you can pay. If you want a temporary portal to any specific world, you can also create those with different blocks and use coins to open the portal. There are different tier public worlds (1 for beginner up to 6 for hunters/miners) upon which you can build, portals maintained by different guilds that provide access back & forth between worlds, or you can create your own permanent portals to & from specific locations. If you dislike doing any single aspect of a sandbox game, you can specialize your characters in other areas and create enough coin NOT to do the things you don't enjoy. If you cannot craft any item yourself, there is a thriving trade system in the game that allows even new players to buy & sell natural resources (&/or crafted items) to produce coins for themselves and then buy the gear, food, or brews that they need to play their character in the way that they want. and crafters need specific skills depending upon whether you want to craft food, drinks (called brews), tools, weapons, or decorations. Every character (or skill page) can do different things (or a combination of things): Explorer, Hunter, Miner, or Crafter. You can play with 1 character (using multiple "skill pages" with different character attributes on each), up to 10 simultaneous characters, or combine both styles of play. Much steeper learning curve than any other sandbox-style games I've tried, but completely worth it.Įvery "natural resource" that I've harvested in the game is useful in at least 2 or more ways: "as-is" for decor, necessary to craft some other item, &/or when harvested drops another resource that is needed to craft something.
